CODE OF CONDUCT

The aim of Byron Shire Women’s Hub Inc is to provide a safe, supportive and friendly environment for women to meet, volunteer, work, teach, learn, support and laugh together.

To achieve this Byron Shire Women’s Hub and its members will:

  • Maintain an open door, with a welcoming, inclusive policy, which embraces all women regardless of age, ethnicity, abilities, income, culture, religion or beliefs.

  • Provide a safe and supportive physical, emotional and social environment.

  • Respect the rights, dignity and value of all Members contributions and decisions. Protect and respect confidential information obtained by Byron Shire Women’s Hub through membership, attendance and activities.

  • Ensure that all programs and activities are nonpolitical or secular and support the aims and objectives of the Byron Shire Women’s Hub.

Byron Shire Women’s Hub members commit to create and maintain a nurturing environment by:

  • Conducting themselves in a courteous and respectful manner toward other members and guests.  

  • Not tolerating any form of bullying, physical, emotional, or verbal abuse,

  • Actively engaging with fellow members, feeling safe and comfortable to contribute in healthy open discussions, respecting everyone’s viewpoint and challenging constructively.

  • Manage any issues or conflict within the group not via gossip or social media, seeking counsel from the committee if required.

  • Acknowledging all members unique story and contribution to the group.

  • Turning causes into lessons and problems into solutions, building our knowledge base and confidence.

  • Respect and handle property belonging of the Byron Shire Women’s Hub with care and diligence: seek direction if you do not know how to operate equipment, tools or machinery, or any item that requires direction. Seek out proper instruction prior to use. SAFETY FIRST, ALWAYS. 

  • Attend activities, workshops, classes and events with positivity, creativity and an openness to try, and willingness to support, new things. 

  • Respect our landlord’s requirements of a dog/pet and alcohol/drug free environment

  • Ensure children are supervised at all times and adults and mature minors only to attend ‘girls on tools’ or other power tool environments.

  • Encouraging all members to be involved, to contribute new ideas and propose new projects for consideration by the Committee (the Committee Workshop Facilitator can assist at: workshops@byronshirewomenshub.org.au ).

Members agree to this Code of Conduct when applying to become a Byron Shire Women’s Hub Inc member.

Any member who breaches the Code of Conduct will be asked to leave Byron Shire Women’s Hub Inc.
